Nice looking fish. I can't quite place it. Looks like a Texas Cichlid ( Herichthys cyanoguttatus) but is missing some of the more common markings for them. What was it labeled as?Hey everyone! I just wanted show of my newest tank addition:
They said Green Texas, which from what I have seen, people either label it as Cyanoguttatus or Carpinte. I'm hoping Cyanoguttatus since he said it would give the color I was looking for and not a Carpinitis.Nice looking fish. I can't quite place it. I believe the green Texas is H carpinte not cyanoguttatus. I understand that the Greens are less aggressive than the regular Texas cichlids so they may work better in a community cichlid tank. A common problem in stores is that they get fish in and depend on the supplier to label them correctly. When there are multiple species that look similar, unless the store people know the difference, they just label it what they purchased it as whether it's right or wrong. Hopefully they mislabeled your fish. They said Green Texas, which from what I have seen, people either label it as Cyanoguttatus or Carpinte. Your most likely correct. I’m pretty sure that he is going by the suppliers name for his fish. So it may be a Carpinte. I guess as long as the fish doesn’t try to take out everyone else in the tank, I won’t complain.I believe the green Texas is H carpinte not cyanoguttatus.
