I look at the websites and am confused at all the different types there is.

I need someone to post up exactly what copepod kit I need.

I have 100+ #'s of LR in a 75 gallon tank. I don't plan on getting the fish for a year or so but I want these copepods everywhere!!!

Thanks!

occope - LIVE Ocean Plankton - 500 mls - A mixture of ocean plankton skewed towards copepods. Organisms from 50 microns - to 1000 microns in size.
$22.90
samph1 - SALT WATER AMPHIPODS In Lots of 30. Unknown species, but these little shrimps look like a C and like to cling to things like rocks and crevices. They are grazers of particulate matter, vegetation and bacteria. Good food for various rock searching predators!
$16.95
**NEW** mysid100 - In Lots of 100 - Mysidopsis bahia - Tiny MYSID OPOSSUM Shrimp - up to 1/4 inch in size. Used primarily for feeding finicky Marine tropicals and seahorses. There maybe other species of small shrimp in the mix, but most are bahia and all about the same size.
$18.95

These are what I should get?

for the most bio diversity yes, that is exactly what I got and I now have all kinds of micro organisms running around on my tank and rock. The only reason I am against the plankton (or at first) is it just looks like water ,but now 2 weeks later or so they're are all kinds of things showing up as for the amthipods you only get a few compared to the mysid if it was me I might get 200 mysid instead they are the more active of the 2 and you get so many more that the odd's of them reproducing etc...

ok after all that ya I'd get that, but bump up the mysid I wish i got 200 instead, let me know how it goes, those prices are including thte shipping if you didn;t know

oh yes, for sure I put half in the tank (no predators at the time) to establish a good base in there then added the rest to the refugium, if you have fish already you might wanna add it away from them directly giving the pods the best first chance at least.

Is it necessary to get some to add to a tank? or can you just let them multiply on their own (from LR)?

I thought I had a good population, but I don't see quite as many of them on the rock as before (when looking with red light or my moonlights).

How exactly can you add them to an existing tank without them getting devoured?!?

Best way to have a steady population in to have them breeding in a fuge. They will get sucked up into your main a little at a time. Just make sure there is some LR in the fuge for them to feel secure enough to breed.

I have a few rocks , but my main thing in the fuge was to use cruched coral , not the pulvurized stuff , but the fragmented shell I figure that would make a good breeding ground

i keep a few small to med size rocks in the fuge to rotate in and out of the tank the mandarin always hunts the new rocks in the tank..so far i think it is doing well for him.

This is what I just ordered!! 8)

Thanks guys!

man I tell ya since this thread started teh population in the main tank seems to have increased 10x I mean these little things are like ants (I think hte amthipods)

well I started noticing them when I put them in there, but I'd say less than a month really.

Well....I put them in today!! We shall see in a month! Hopefully the fish didn't kill them all. I turned the lights off so they all hid like they usually do....then 30 minutes later I turned the lights on and it seemed like they were all gone...so hopefully they went into the LR. We'll see! :D

I don't have a refuge.

I have four blue/green chromis, two percula clowns, and a yellow tang in a 75 gallon. About 100lbs of LR.

I have a fine dsb with rubble lr on the top. Hopefully the pods will like it but ive had it up and running for about two weeks now and havent seen to much :? I think im going to buy one of the package deals listed above and see how that goes!

oh , you havn't added anything yet? I only saw like 1 mysid and a few (4-5) amhtipods before I added mine , I would hat e to see how long it takes to grow from that.

Side note: All my pods really seem to like the spots where the rock contacts the glass of the tank they go from hte glass to the rocks and about ,but stick to these low flow algae area's fpr now , if that helps anyone
