Our tetra returned from the dead

Not a question, just a strange occurrence. We have 3 black skirt tetras in our 29 gal. tank and we awoke one morning about 4 days ago to find the largest one had disappeared. We could find no sign of him anywhere. Then this morning out of nowhere there he was swimming around as if nothing at all had happened. I am glad to see him back but kind of baffled about the whole thing.

It's the magic of fish keeping. They can hide behind things like filter boxes or heaters or just about anything. I suggest you not worry about the how or the why as long as the found fish is acting normally and not having any issues besides playing Houdini.

Thanks but it sure has me scratching my head. We know he didn't eat for 4 days but seems fine.

A well fed fish can often go more than a week without feeding so 4 days is not really anything serious, especially if the fish was inactive.
