Platty with growth on him

We just returned home from 2 weeks away to find that one of our platties has an odd growth around his eye/head area. Our neighbors had been feeding them, so there wasn't really a change in routine while we were gone. It is not white, so I'm assumming it's not ick. He is an orange and white platty (don't remember the specific type) and the growths are the same color as his scales (orange). They are very raised and large. It has gotten worse over the last 3 days that we've been home, but he is acting fine and eating like normal. Any ideas on what it could be or what we should do about it? We are concerned about it affecting (or INfecting) the other fish as well. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.
