Please could you offer some advice I have 3 female Platy fish from birth (sisters!) they are nearly a year old now in a well cycled tank with three male guppies and some tetra. 2/3 of the platy fish have lost chunks of their tail , cloudy in places - the other platy is totally fine and tail is full. Because one platy was fine I was worried the two were getting bullied by the male guppies, but I hadn’t seen this before until their tails were stumpy like now and the biggest guppy was circling them- possibly as they were ill though as I didn’t seen them being nipped. I’ve moved all three platy’s into a large breeding net in the existing tank to protect them and also keep an eye on the third healthy tailed platy in there. The healthy platy still fine 2/3 days on so perhaps it is guppy agreddion? Please could anyone look at my pictures and advise xx

What kind(s) of Tetras do you have besides the Neons? The injury is more likely to be a Tetra bite than a Guppy bite. The cloudiness of the tail looks like an infection that should be treated. Do you have a separate tank or container that can be used as a hospital tank?

Thanks for the response. I do have another smallish tank that I keep snails in after I got a few hitching in on plants and couldn’t bring myself to do anything but keep them alive and of course they’ve multiplied! 🤣 I assume this would be ok to use depending on what treatment you think I should give them. Tetras - 6 neon/ cardinal 4 gold tetra 2 ember tetra. They are all seemingly chill in personality so I can’t imagine it’s them but I think with one of the three platy seemingly ok it likely is a bite/ nip..

In your pic #3, between the wood and the plant, is a silver grey looking item. It looks like a fish. What is that?
What size is the other tank and do you have a place for the snails because the treatment will probably kill them?
