Hi everyone!! So I got myself a new tank that fills much more and thought I could finally use the fx6. I had to pour all water out to transport it to new location and set it up! I poured water in and turned it on and it started to overflow between lid and body.

I turned off filter and took out some water and then turned it on again. Same thing happened. I then turned off filter, took out more water until it was only like - 1/4 filled, and then replaced media and then lid but I didn’t turn on filter. I went to go do something and I hear a flood and suddenly all this water is overflowing between lid and body seam. I’m thinking wtf?? How did that happen?? I barely had water in there, the lid was screwed on, where did all that water come from if the machine wasn’t even on?!! Please help. Idk what to do!! I spent 300 dollars on this thing :( pic is the setup of aquarium

Check any O rings for breaks or flat areas. Check the canister for cracks. Make sure all the screws are tightened. It sounds like one of these is the issue.
If there was water in the lines, it could have started a siphon and filled the canister which is why it was overflowing.

One of the screws in the top wasn’t all the way down!
Does my setup look ok? There’s enough water in there now right?

Yup, screwed by the screw. Happens all the time. ;) ;)
You will maximize your filtration better if you either get a lower table for the filter to sit on or if necessary, just use 2-4 cinder blocks to make a stand for the filter to sit on. The lower it is, the better.
What I don't see is something for the turtles to come out of the water to sun themselves on. If you lower the filter you can lower the water level and make a nice rock pile in the center for them to get out of the water without being able to get out of the tank. (y)

I actually made a dock out of egg crate :)
It’s on top left!
I’ll do the suggestions of the cinder blocks!! Good idea
