well i just got 160 lbs for $20 each bag. they were 40 lbs bags. i can find any store in my area that has the southdown sand. but i have to say the sand i got it vary nice. vary small.

I filled out that form a while back but they never emailed me back. I filled it out a few times too. I also emailed every address I can find on their site but got no responses. Still havent gotten any sand so I went with some normal HD sand.

What exactly is Southdown sand?...I have seen on the forums about "playsand"...is this the brown sand for like a sanbox?

I got a few bags of play sand that I used to hold down my steps in my pool, they now have holes in the bag and I am not going to put them back in this year. I usually buy silica sand for the steps but the store was out so I bought this stuff.

Is this the same kind of sand you are all talking about? Could I use this?

lots of folks have been finding the sand all over. Check the sticky thread at the top of this forum for places folks have found it.

Sparky, Southdown sand (now YardRight or OldCastle sand) is not the yellow/brown silica based sand but is actually argonite sand scooped up from the seafloor, washed and bagged for sand boxes.
