I'm very new to having pregnant platy fish when do you think my Platy Gold female will have her babies? I put her in the breeder box day before yesterday because the males where chasing her all over the place and stressing her out!
Any helpful comments would be great!! 😊
Thank you!

Unfortunately there is no calendar for how long gestations are because fish can delay delivery based on their circumstances. She does look very heavy so it should be soon. There is a lot of debate whether those breeder boxes are more a help or a stress inducer so that could be why she hasn't delivered just yet. ( Being constantly chased by the males is also stressful on the fish so letting her loose now is not necessarily going to help either.) If you can put a divider in the tank so that the males are on one side and this female on the other, that could help lessen the stress and help move things along. (y)

That's what I've been reading lately! Exactly, I'm getting this small tank for Momma fish today and hopefully we'll have babies soon!! 💞 😊 I'll be putting a lot of aquatic plants at the bottom of the tank so the babies can hide!! 😃

I suggest getting a tank that is either square or rectangular. Those column tanks do not really offer the fish much swimming room. Even a small 5 gallon tank is better than the column tanks.
For the fish fry ( baby fish), use as many floating frilly plants as you do plants on the bottom. Most livebearer fry ( Guppies, Platies, Mollies, Swordtails, etc.) will hide closer to the surface than down at the bottom. (y)

I got the cylinder tank and put the female Platy in it last night but then she looked very stressed and lonely...So I moved her back into the tank with the others and she is doing much better! I will be getting a rectangle or square tank for the pregnant Mommas!
Good to know!!
