okay whats up hear me out i have a 44 gal tank with 2 iradecinte sharks 2 cory cats 1 tiger barb 3 albino tigers 5 greeen barbs and i had a golden nuget and it died within 2-3 days and i got a new one and it died tooooo why alll my levels are perfect?

same lfs for both fish? maybe they got sick batch.

What are you feeding your Goldern Nugget?
Your nugget is an omnivore and that means he does not eat just algae as a lot of people think. Yes he will clean the algae in the tank off the glass etc. but his actual diet is animal and vegetable foods.

I think you missed Terry's point... As some plecos are omnivores (e.g. Zebra Plecos), they will need not only algae, but also meatier food in their diet. Perhaps sinking cichlid pellets? Those usually have shrimp/crayfish in them.

Alot of people think that because pleco's are great for eating algae, that is all they eat.
It is not the fact. Any pleco's will eat pellets given to cichlids the same as some meat eating fish will swim off with an algae wafer in there mouth if they get half a chance.

Ain't that the truth. I've been switching my cichlid tank from sinking foods to floating pellets, because otherwise if the cichlids don't get it on the way down, the pleco will get it all. They still don't like floating pellets too much, I guess 8-9 months of getting sinking stuff kinda trains you, but its always gone after a short while. Right now I still have sinking stuff mixed in. They run for that and ignore the pellet. I guess they eat it when my back is turned.

Thanks Terry, I haven't been feeding my new pleco any sinking meat foods. I didn't know. So I will be picking something up at the lfs for him :]
