Pruning

What is the "official" process of pruning. I have some anacharis and it grew an inch since this week end, how should I prune it?

What ever I do, the stuff I cut off is going back into the bottom since the tank is just cycling.

Anacharis, use sharp, clean scissors, cut it off wherever you want, and replant the top part where ever you want. the cut part will put out a new branch and keep growing.

Some people strip the leaves off the part of the stem to be buried, but I never bother, doesn't seem to make any difference.
