As you can see from my stock below, it looks like my 210 is going to stay a fish and invert only. I am going to try a few corals, we'll see what happens.
I do have several qt tanks, 2 10 gallons will remain for qt. I also have a 40 gallon breeder tank that I purchased when I had a velvet outbreak. I have used copper in it twice and am wondering if it could be converted to a reef tank or will a trace of copper remain. Is there a way to completely rid it of copper?
Appreciate any input.

I have read that the silicone will take up the copper and slowly release it back, that has not been my experience, however. The tank I have set up as a reef now, used to be a qt tank, and had copper meds used in it on several occasions, I have had no issues, ymmv.

I don't know about completely getting rid of it, but IMO, i think elbow grease will do the trick. Maybe some hot, hot, hot water, and a heat proof glove and scrub the thing out. Maybe use some soap and use the water again somedays later to make sure the soap is gone. Can't you test for copper? Because before you do all that work, see what it is like in the tank.

Thats true about testing for copper. My concern is the trace amount left over. I think I'll give it a wirl, after seeing why my Angel will do to coral in the main. Maybe I'll get lucky.
I am soaking it in bleach as we speak. I will give it a good going over with soap and them multiple rinsing.
Thanks all!!

Please don't do this, the result of any residue left could be catastrophic. Your doing enough with the leach and rinsing.

WOW 8O Incredible pictures!! I really am tryingto make a side trip to dive this summer when I"m in florida seeing mickey mouse

You can dive the aquarium at Disney. I havn't done it, but I know others that have. It is supposed to be incredible. It would be a haul from Orlando, but if you can, go to the Keys. Great diving there also, probably the best in the states. Have been there a couple of times, the reefs off Key Largo are excellent. Of course anything is an improvement to us land locked northeasterners.
