I was wondering if it is possible to keep a few different breeds of Gouarmi together in one tank. I have now two Gold Gourami, but I am probably going to give away the larger one since he is picking on the smaller one. I want to get a Neon Blue and a Flame Gourami. Then keep those three and maybe breed one of them. I don't want to do this however if there is going to be compatability issues.

i've kept them together without a problem... all gourami can be a wee bit territorial. they just need their own space. mostly they're extremely peaceful

There is nothing to say that you can't mix gourami's, but like medge00 said they can get alittle territorial. Your tank at the moment does seem to be quite full. You have a few fish in that tank that grow quite big i.e Angels, clown loaches, pleco.

I would be weary of putting two male gouramis in the same tank. Since it is the males that are the pretty one, that would be no fun I posted my entire knowledge on them at
http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=9117&highlight=

I have 2 dwarf gouramis which I have had for awhile, but lost a couple before my present pair. I went to the shop and asked for two gouramis, and they sold me two males, a blue and red. They literally nipped each other to death. I asked the shop why they sold me two males as they are constantly attacking each other but apparently it is rare for a blue dwarf gourami to attack a red gourami …. Anyway they gave me a female gourami to add a bit of sex to the mix but it was too late for the two males and I eventually put them out of their misery.

I did not add another gourami to my tank to ensure that there was no gourami specific disease in the tank after which I added another red male dwarf gourami and he has been peacefully living in my tank with guppies, cardinals etc. He is a bit pugnacious (as described in a book) towards the female dwarf gourami but apparently, that is normal.

Therefore I figure that it is risky adding two males in the tank but they do like a chase, so add a female otherwise they may chase something else

the above is the full extent of my knowledge, take from it what you will LOL

Imagine if humans were like fishes and men were the pretty ones. I would be able to wear my stockings and put make up on in public LOL

I have not kept more than one gourami in the same tank, but if the tank is large enough then you might be able to do it. I have mine with angels (well, one adult angel now  ) and they spar now and again, but no injuries.

I am working on a bigger tank. I have the tank, stuff from BigAl's is on the way(they ship so slow), and the stand is all built it just need some finish on it. It's 46gallons so there should be enough room. I will also probably trade in a few fish, since I want to get a school of Harlequin Rasbora too. My Gourami's never fight with any of the other fish, just each other.

I don't see it being a problem, but I do agree with Terry and LondonGman, make sure you don't have too many as they set their territories and be careful with too many males. The males are the more colorful but they will fight with each other over thier territory.

I had two male dwarf gouramis in a 12 gallon tank that fought MERCILESSLY.

I won't ever put two males in the same tank again unless its a much larger tank. Even then, I'd probably be hesitant to do it.
