Red mark is it a worm on white clouded minnow fish

Hi folks just noticed this tonight in a minnow first I thought he hurt himself off a rock or something on closer inspection I noticed what I thought was a very small red worm but in a ball , I tried to take it off with a tweezers but it's just too soft any ideas thanks

It looks more like a tumor than a worm but if you saw it stretched out, it would be a worm. There are medications if it's a worm but if it's a tumor, there's nothing really you can do for that. Tumors would not be soft tho Any way to get a clearer pic without the colored backgrounds?

Yes. Sadly, I suspect that is a tumor if it's hard but there are other possibilities if the area is soft or mushy, none of which are curable. I would suggest euthanizing the fish as some of the other possibilities are contagious to other fish. Wounded fish are likely picked on by the other fish and that is how diseases can spread in a tank. There is also an unlikely possibility that this is early stage fish TB so you should be very careful handling the fish and equipment you used with it and sterilize the equipment as well as your skin that may have gotten wet, especially if you have cuts in those areas just as a precaution.
