Refugiums I want one!

Can someone give me and Idea how Refugiums work and what can be put in it? I will soon switch from FOWLR to Reef soon just want to start getting these options ready and Ideas....

I would have to go with this one Only because of the Lack of room I have in my Apartment if not I would use the 10 Gallon FW aquarium I have at home.
