Forgot to mention the other day after a few distractions.... Strawberry Herbert is now making himself at home in the large tank.

He was clean and he has made the grade. So Ill take a chance I wouldn't in a fine finned betta. I made him an above-floor hammock with a small stick on shower caddy and some plants. Every once in a while I catch him chasing the tetras or say attempting to chase.....they have make two tank laps before he has committed forward motion. He is far outclassed in speed. I swear they are teasing him.
The invisible phantoms are out now. His similar shape and color must have cued them and they are shoaling around him. He gets annoyed and wil turn on one. He doesn't register the clown nor they him. He actually is primping a lot. He doesn't seem to like the penguins. He displays and lunges and they stay just short his reach like "yeah...right..!"

I'll keep an eye on his trailing ventrals...that is likely the first target if any.
He is mostly just exploring and dancing with joy. Poor lil guy. :)

What a great idea! I'm going to get one of those plastic soap dishes that stick on with suction cups for my 7 gal betta tank. Cool!

Actually the credit must go to my daughter.
She was keen for SHerbert to go in a proper tank. And wanted the QTs open for her coming fish. And I was worried he'd have no peace at resting time beause loaches are pests and the tetras are never still. And Dutch is a bottom feeder. Herbert like to rest against something in a lounging fashion, almost on his side. So she rinsed a new shower caddy that I hadn't taken out of the bag even. Stripped some of her extra java fern and anarchis from her large tank and made an island paradise just below the surface.
So far it works. 8)

This is great. I was on a mission during luch today, and made this happen too! It's really sweet and I'm excited to see if he sleeps there tonight. 8)

I'll see if I can get a nice snap of him lounging. He plays in the auxillary filters bubbles most the day...and makes a sorry attempt to chase the tetras. I have the auxillary filter on agin and it bubbles the front view. Had the shades open and the clarity went gonzo! Some of that sunshine mondo bloom. I was also moving my son's fish to his new desk, today

I actually only have three betta. A huge 4inch long female plakat I called Alvilda and S. Herbert. and a bright penny copper plakat male.(and the 6 pugnax I get to take home mid month if you count any betta)

Anna now has 10 betta and she has 3 that were supposed to arrive today and she has her final five until her second generation arriving Tues.
She has two bonus fish because their breeders clicked with her. oh the fry too, she has about 15 that are larger and betta shaped. And maybe a dozen colorless guppy ones.

Oh and my son has 2 betta, Aan-ti and Uncol
So in-house betta total is approx: 40 incl the 8 week old fry.
The types are a new color loss gene, albino and marbles.Mostly deltaHM, ,DT and one crown.
