I know this has probably been answered 100 times but please bare with me...

I'm going to set up a DSB for a 90 gal....I was thinking 4" but what does everyone recommend?

Reading through different posts I've learned that Old Castle and Southland Tropical playsands are good for the tank, any other brands?

When I get the sand what should I do before adding it to the tank?

I have fully cured LR that will go in there to seed it but I also wanted to put in LS to help with the bacteria as well as getting little critters to stir things up...LFS doesn't carry any, can anyone recommend a site to get it from?

Is that enough questions for one post? 8)

Obviously it wasn't enough questions because i thought of another one....

When adding LR, do i want some of the buried in the dsb for structural support or does this some how interfere with it (LR will be put in before the sand becomes live)

burying the lr for support is fine. Everyone recomends liverocks.com, my order of sand should be here soon, so I'll let you know how it is. I got some lr from lfs, but I am not impressed with it, it is more like base rock.
As far as sand depth, 4" is good, I used 3", with 5" in my fuge. With enough lr to handle the filtration you should be fine

Yeah i am hardly impressed with the lr from my lfs too....i am planning on ordering the rest I need from liverocks.com. I'll probably get some ls from them too. I bought some old castle play sand this morning for my dsb so I just need enough to seed i guess.
