scum/ bugs

anyone know why i have scum on the top of my water ? btw. i have a 30 gallon with one green wolf eel, 2 emerald crabs and one sally lightfoot crab, and a turbo snail. plus for anyone who has heard of me i still have bugs floating around on top. its like they hatch , float to the top and then shimmy around a bit , then they die. it seems they hatch out of my florida rocks . ive seen them shaking all about tring to get free of whatever or wherever they are coming from. thanx for any advice.

The scum on top of the water is probably DOC's. Are you using a skimmer? If not, I would recommend getting one. The Aqua C Remora is a good model for a 30 gallon tank. A skimmer will remove the DOC's. You can skim it out with a brine shrimp net or a piece of pantyhose for now though.
The "bugs" sound like pods. What are your water parameters? If the pods are dying that quickly, there may be some problem with the water.
