Ok Im REALLY a newbie at this stuff. I just got a brand new 6 gallon tank and I need to know how to cycle a tank. And how you would set it up after (Plants, Driftwood, etc..)

Im planning on getting 3 cories.

Any information/advice would be nice!

Thanks

Sponge

I would advocate a fishless cycle for the tank. That means adding an ammonia source to start the cycle. I would suggest checking out this website for the info on a fishless cycle.

Cories are great fish and three would do well in that tank. If you want a fish for the top of the tank as well try a single dwarf gourami, or betta.

Good luck!!

I prefer cycling with fish. A couple or three zebra danios would be a great start since they are very hardy fish.

Why would you prefer a slower method of cycling that potentially hurts fish?

Plus then you have to have danios in your tank that you might not want. What do you do with the danios then?

With a fishless cycle you can add all of your fish at one time. Sounds better to me.

Plus in a 6 gallon tank danios will suffer from lack of space, they need room to swim.
