some suggestions please

I currently have a 55gallon with flourite substrate and 2.1 wpg and plan on making a diy co2 for it currently theres nothing but java fern, water sprite?, and 2 ideing amazon swords (was told on forum i dont have enough lighting for them)

do u guys have any siggestions for some plants from SA that would thrive in my conditions please? im kind of a newb at planted tanks

i have 2 wpg. on my 10 gal. i've had success with vallisneria, anubias and crypts (water sprite too, but you have that already.)

I've got around 1.5 watts over the amazons in my 55g; they aren't thriving, but they aren't dying either (the ones in my true planted tanks are doing remarkable with 2.0 watts in one tank, 3.5 watts in another). They've been in the 55g for over a year. I wonder if some nutrient is missing?

You also might want to check www.plantgeeks.com (sorry Rex LOL), http://www.aquabotanic.com/ and http://www.plantedtank.net/ for plants which do well in low light.

Anubias and Cryptocoryne will do well under low light conditions but they are not South American plants. Amazon Swords (Echinodoras), as Alli has already stated, will grow at 2 wpg but not spectacularly. Various types of Sagittaria are relatively undemanding and are a good substitute for Vallisneria if you want a tall, grassy look toward the back of the aquarium. Though it is primarily a North American plant, Hornwort (Ceratophyllum) has a worldwide distribution and you could get away with it in a South American biotope. It will thrive under your lighting conditions. Oh...by the way...your Java Fern and Water Sprite aren't South American either!

i kno theyre not SA but its wat i have and it seems to grow good lol im trying to eventually move in all South AMerican plants into it....im gunna get some liquid fertilizer to see if thatll supplemtent wat my swords are missing before it s too late can water hardness effect how my amazons grow? i havent checked mine before so ill check that when i get home today

hey! lol im not totally dumb i was goin for a southeast asian tank but decided i didnt have the resources to try such a heavily planted tank hence me havin java fern and water sprite
