Hello,
I currently have a 30G tank and looking for some stocking ideas, the fish that are currently in the tank are:
1 Opaline Gourami
1 Bristlenose Pleco
12 Neon Tetras
(Gourami and pleco aren't fully grown and both are still small, even some of the neons are not fully grown)
The gourami isn't aggressive to the tetra, hope it stays that way
The tank is hardscaped with rocks and driftwood, there also are some anubias and javafern.
Would really appreciate some advice. Thanks

Your options are nearly limitless. I would go to an aquarium store and see what appeals. Its difficult for people to advise what can go in your tank because you end up with what other people want rather than what you want. You have scope to add more fish though.

You could make a small group of the gourami. If yours is a male add 3 females. If its female add a couple more females and a male.

You could add some fish that live on the bottom, like a group of corys or a few small loaches.

You could add more tetras. Either make the group of tetras bigger, or add another similar sized group of another type of tetra.

Or you could add something a little more active. A group of glolight danios would be active and a similar sized fish to your neons.

Or maybe something with lots of colour like some guppies.

It really depends on what you want to achieve.

I'm mostly scared of overstocking the tank

Really depends on how much water maintenance you want to do. If you are wanting to make a moderate (25 to 30%) water change every couple of weeks then i wouldnt add any more fish.

If you are happy changing half the water every week you could probably double up on the fish.

As Aiken said, the variety of fish you can add is large so better to choose some fish and then check to see if they fit. Also, considering the different shapes tanks come in these days, gallons are no longer the best metric for determining if a fish will fit. Please list the dimensions of your tank so that we don't suggest fish that can't really fit your shape but can your gallons. (y)

The tank is 32 inches long, 12 inches depth, 18 inches high. (Centimeters: 80x30x46)

(y) (y) This is why I asked because my 30 gallon is 36" long x 12" wide x 16" high. I've also had people describe a 29 gallon tank as a 30 but when they give the dimensions, it's a standard 29 gal. All the new designs of tanks just make it crazy. Time to go shopping to look at some fish. ;) ;) 😀
