Hi there,
I have a young (1 inch) tomato clownfish, a large Condy anemone (which do not talk to each other :) ) a Mother Sailfin Dragonet, (see photo)

and I have a 40 gal DSB tank. I have a few single species of soft coral polyps on different live rock. The main focus in my tank right now is a fast-growing Caulerpa of some type and a few sarcoglossans that eat it (not fast enough IMO). We have no shrimps or crabs, only astrea and jumbo turbo snails.

My question is what do you guys suggest as a new tankmate to the clown and dragonet? My husband is thinking a Yellow Tang because we have tons of the caulerpa one could happily nibble on his spare time. :) I was at first thinking of a pair of dwarf seahorses, (to hang about in the caulerpa), but I read somewhere that live adult brineshrimp (our Dragonet's staple diet) may be too large for them.

I'd like to hear what any of you have successfully housed with these 2 species (or similar), but we are leaning toward a mid-tank ranged fish, not one that would be in the Dragonet's way, and one that is big enough/smart enough not to get eaten by the anemone.

Thanks guys for your suggestions!

A 40g tank is not large enough for a yellow tang, even yellows need a minimum of 4ft of tank length to swim in.

You might look at reef safe wrasses, dwarf angels or hawkfish.
