sump/refugium questions

ok i'm building my own sump but i am going to put a small refugium area to grow some macro and also place some live rock. now my question is this for the substrate in the refugium should i use just live sand from the tank or should i get some kind of miricle mud.

I would just use live sand. I havent had any personal experiece with Miracle Mud, but from what I gathered, its not really worth the money. Any other members use it???

I think I am going to try a layer of miracle mud, sand on top....

i tried the miracle mud that i got with my detrovore kit. lot of micro bugs,red worms, and bact. so far so good. got this from indo pacific 1-17-2993.
