I bought a small top water skimmer to collect left over food and am trying to find the correct place for it. I thinking food coloring would help but What would it do to my Oscar and Pleco? If I can use this it would not take a long time. So do you think it is OK? I would use just enough drops to find the eddy. What say you. Thanks for any input.

Food coloring should not be toxic to the fish so they can stay in the tank. I've also used pH indicators like Phenal Red and Bromothymal Blue to see water flow as well directly in the tank with no issues. No matter which you use, you just need a couple of drops.
