Night # 4 and once I peek in to see again poor Dutch the BKG is sleeping with 3 clowns stacked next to him like a soft twitchy cave wall (least they don't sleep on him! Think he put a foot..er fin.. down there.) He even moved once only to find them there. so is back in his mountain

Guess he figured if he can't beat them he'll join them. One would have thought his electrical impulses would annoy them. Nope!
Maybe they like it and that is why they bugged him til he "became one" with his inner loach. He comes out to feed when they click, too (click = scallop or bloodworm day)
the tetras stopped being his problem as soon as S.Herbert set up HQ in a lair over the mountain. HE patrols relentlessly and comes flaring if the tetras hang in groups bigger than 2 for more than a cories eyeblink.
Dutch only has to take the indignity of SHerbert taking a piece of scallop right out of his house. He has his good color back instead of the off white tail and blaze(..his I feel stress color). His little blaze is phosphescent again. 8)

I wish I had a good camera to angle for a pic. You can see 1 and a half loach faces in the cave door cheek to cheek with dutch. Bernardo is often at the bottom even though he is/was head loach. Some predator..I think Dutch missed the memo.
The tetras are not too put out..someone scattereed eggs all over the place at random. Unless it was the easter bunny come early, I suspect a tetra. I bet I cleaned most out before I was wiping plant and saw them.

Who needs TV. What a drama center that tank is!

LOL Your tank is so interesting... after having my tank for 3 or 4 months now (hadn't had a tank for 3 yrs) I'm really starting to see all their fishy personalities coming out.

I just discovered last night that my 4 clown loaches all sleep together on top of a cave all lined up next to each other. I also noticed one of my plecos likes to swim upside down, skimming the surface of the water with his mouth lol... hadn't seen this before. Am still trying to take decent photos but funnily enough, they just keep moving!!! I end up with a tail fin or nothing but water in the shot lol.

I have decided clown loaches are completely insane, by the way. For today anyways, they think they're green tiger barbs. Other days, they're serpai tetras. Occasionally, they're cories. And sometimes, they're gouramis and eat flake off the surface of the water.

Definately one of the biggest aquarium characters.
