Thinking about getting a 26g bow front...

I am looking at purchasing a 26g bow front tank locally for $129 + $28 glass cover + $29 24 inch hood. The hood and glass top seem priced OK, but I was wondering if the tank was reasonably price, or if I was getting ripped off? If I am getting ripped off, I would buy one online if possible, since myself and my wife really decided that we want a bow front tank.

Next, the fitted stand for the tank is $220(!), so I am am thinking about using a stand with a flat top meant for a 29g tank. The stand has a 31x14.5 inch top, the tank is 24x15 inches, so the front will over hang by a tiny bit. I was going to put some cloth on the top and then overhang the front by the half an inch. Is this OK, or should I try to find a stand online as well? Thanks...

i wouldnt have any of the tank over hang, the price of the tank seems about right for here in canada so it might be a little pricy in the usa

I am weary on the overhang, but just having half an inch of the front bow hanging off the front should not be enough to cause any manner of structural problem. If anyone has any experience with doing this, I am all ears. The fitted stand is $220, the rectangle top stand is $60. I tried getting the price down on fitted stand with no luck.

My suggestion is to go All-Glass Aquarium...also know as aga. They have a 26 gal bowfront that is beautiful. My lfs sells the tank and stand as one price. You may want to find a lfs by you that does the same. Also, bowfront aquariums are always going to be more expensive than regular aquariums. They are considered more of a "show tank".

the tank i am looking at is the all-glass i looked all around, and this is the only place i have found that carries the 26g. i found the 46g in two spots, but neither were interested in ordering the 26 for me. too bad the all-glass stand is so much $$$, because it really does look nice together with the tank...
