Aqua glow 20w T8 ? Purple tint?

I can't complain much, having gotten a 56gallon column, stand, light, Aquaclear 70, and decor and stuff for $50.

But seriously. The fish are freaky looking!! I'm used to marineland LEDs. I don't think it's just that everyone is still scared from the move; the rasboras are very red when they swim close to the side (natural light) and the Otos deeply tinted black. The orange finned danios look very washed out, and the Glowlight neon tetras too.

Do these lights kill orange? My fish are (usually) all orange and copper colors.

I swapped out a 8000k T-8 fluorescent tube with a tube that was supposedly plant friendly but emitted a pinkish hue. It made my longfin blue danios appear "flesh colored". Yuck. I returned the tube.

That's exactly how they look! Flesh colored! If it weren't that the danios look bad while the Otos (even the one who had a really rough move) were swimming around like a pack of danios, Id think something was making the fish sick.

So maybe full spectrum? Diana Waldtads book claims study findings that plain cool white is best ... I use GE Reveal all over my house, I shouldn't be surprised this lavender light bugs me.
