I have two toadstools, one really really large one and one smaller one and my clowns arent' interested in them. BUT clowns can host almost anything. Some even go for powerheads or rocks. it's pretty much a crap shoot.

They are low light, just not sure how low. lol I'm running t5's over the large one and a metal halide over my 20g. You coudl give it a try though.

until the api kit comes, i am testing with shrips, however i lost my test tube, is it ok to use a plastic cup
