Water change in one shot or a period of hours

Hi all,

When doing water changes is it good to add the water all at once or wait a few hours after adding the next batch.

My tank is 140 gals and I skim around 7.5 gals of water of course. Then I dump 10 Gal in. By doing this dosen't affect the fish in some way or it is perfectly fine.

As long as the temp/salnity/ect ect is the same as in the tank. it shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think..

Do it all at once, as long as the temp/salinity is the same you'll be okay. By doing it all at once you are changing out more of the old water. By this I mean if you do two 10% changes you are not replacing as much water as one 20% change.

That's great then. I do that instead as long as it does not harm the fish or drops in temp.

You skim (remove??) 7.5 gallons of water and replace with 10? Just to be clear, if you are replacing more saltwater than what you removed, then the salinity will start to creep up with each change which could be an issue. Any evaporated water should be replaced with freshwater, and water changes should remove and replace the same amount.
