What is the main cause of neon tetra diseases?

I knew that this mysterious diseases is uncurable, but could any one tell me what is the main cause of this diseases? How is neons infected by it? I hope ppl out there when read this thread could prevent their neons from being infected. Thanks everyone who replied to this question.
