What is this?

Hey everyone you guys have been very helpful! Just another question on a "plant" or "algae". I have a 58gal i have been gettting little plants that are greenish in color, some are smaller and larger about 1" in size! They have a stem, and fans like a feather duster or Fan worm would have, but they have no tube. They seem to be getting greater in #'s and im not sure what they are. They are able to stick to glass, etc by the end of their stalk, they also seem like they may move or carry themselves in the current...any ideas on what these are ?

sorry i dont have a digital cam right now but getting one soon do you know a site with a good pic of one? also are they helpful or harmful in my tank?
