Whats best way of cleaning poo out of a african cichlid tank ?

Just wondering if anyone has a great way of hoovering fish poop out of there tanks ?

What kind of substrate do you have?

Corral sand ?

I have a clear 1/2" hose that i hover above the substrate, and it sucks up the poop, and it doesn't affect the sand at all.
