I am starting a brackish tank with java ferns, but was wondering wether one 12 inch white cold cathode at full voltage would be enough for these plants. they are the only plants that will be in this tank.
Not sure if this helps but I will also have a 12 inch blue cold cathode for moonlighting purposes.

This is your 45 gal. high tank? What is the wattage of the bulb? You really should have 2wpg minimum for any live plants, even Java Fern.

I really know nothing about cold cathodes, so more info might help here. Thanks.

I don't know what the wattage of the bulb is but its cool, I am just going to probably keep my regular 24" fluorescent that was with the tank (after I fix it), replace the bulb though (which is probably whats busted), and use the dual cathode kit with a blue and possibly leave the other empty is suggested so :D
