What is the best way to treat a white spot on a fish eye??

I just did a %50 water change and then took the carbon out of the filter and added Melafix to the water following the directions.

No3 20ppm, No2 0ppm, GH75ppm, KH 80ppm, ph7.0
No3 is a little high.

Should this be enough??

By the way the fish is a gourami.

Poor fish is now hangin out at the bottom of tank breathing heavy.
All other fish are nippin at him.
dont look like he will last long.
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE RESPONED TO THIS POST......HELP!!!!

Ack! Get him out of there and into a QT tank quick. One because we need to figure out whats wrong with him and we don't want the others to get infected if its contagious, and two, if they are picking at him he's REALLY stressin and needs to be in a safe place.

Your nitrates aren't too terribly high; I don't think thats the issue. Whats your ammonia tho? You don't list it.

And what does the white spot look like? A cataract? An ich spot? Is it raised?

I dont have another tank to set up as a Qt YET.
ammonia is 0.
The spot does seem to be raised.

He is swimming today.

I'm glad to hear he got off the floor of the tank. Whew.

I'm not sure what the spot could be...I was thinking a wound, but its raised huh. Maybe it was a wound that got infected? Usually a raised spot is ich, but I've never seen it on the eye itself. All guesses here of course.

Are the other guys leaving him alone now? You'll have to keep a real close eye on them; you don't want them to harass him to death or make that area on his eye worse. Take a look here and see if anything matches up at all: http://www.fishpalace.org/Disease.html

It kind of resembles an ich spot to me.
But I have never seen just one ich spot and not on the eye anyway.

The other fish are pretty much just ignoring him now.
He is just hangin out by him self.

white spot now covers 1/2 of the eye and has spread to his back.
On the back it looks more like a fuzzy fungus.
??
what do you think? :?:

Whoa. Major rethink here.

Sounds to me like your guy has columnaris. Its the most prevelant fish disease in aquariums. Its also known as mouth fungus as it often will start around the mouth and looks fungal. Its not tho; its an infection by the bacteria flexibactor and actually can start anywhere.

Its also listed on that webpage I gave you. I believe the treatment is broad spectrum antibiotics like kanacyn or tetracycline.

You are going to need to keep your water parameters pristine. That may be tough; the antibiotics will most likely muck up your nitrifying bacterial colony. You might want to look into grabbing a cheap 10g (I got mine for $10 at Walmart), and cheap filter and a heater. He really should be QT so hes isolated from the others and you don't mess up the main tanks biological filtration.

Well it looks grim for my lil buddy now.
I did manage to get a 5gal tank to qt him but I dont think he will make it till morning.
He is floating at the top of the tank.
I treated the tank with tetracycline but think it's to late.
We'll see what happens.

Allivymar,
Thanks for all your help. :D

Aw damn. I'm sorry oscar. I wish I had figured out more quickly what it was; he may have stood a chance :(
