I just noticed that my 2 glass fish have white spots on their fin tips. I don't believe that it is Ick. My "Fish Health" book says it is Lymphocystis. It says to isolate the fish and give antibiotics. My question is: What antibiotics can I use and can I treat the whole tank (30 Gallons) or do I have to isolate?

Another question: I have a goldfish in my tank that acts weird. First of all I had to keep the goldfish as my daughter wouldn't let me get rid of it. The fish will float upside down near the top of the tank. It acts like it is sleeping. Is this a common thing w/goldies.

Thanks for the help.

I don't know what antibiotic you should use, but you shouldn't treat the whole tank as you could kill off the beneficial bacteria needed to process fish waste.

Also, I'm pretty sure that's not normal for goldies. If you are feeding it floating food it could be swallowing air with the food.

Lymphocystosis is a viral disease according to my source, so antibiotics are useless (just like yoiu don't use antibiotics for colds) unless there is a secondary bacterial infection.

Swim bladder disorder is very common in fancy goldies. The most common & easiest to treat cause is constipation or gas in gut (feeding floating food, swallowing air, or bad food). Try feeding some blanched peas (skinless) to clear out the fish to see if this helps.
