I have a 50gal tank. Interested in getting a yellow tang, and a yellow eye tang. Am I correct in thinking that since they are different colors and shapes they should get along well???

they would hypothetically... but you'd have to upgrade that tank. Tangs need SWIMMING space! 100 gal + for those two IME

Agreed. Too small for those two. The absolute smallest tank IMO would be a 75 and they would have to go in together or the yellow last.
