Hey all!
I’m brand new here so I’m not certain how this all works. I see a 55 gallon tank on fb marketplace and it gave me an idea. Could I house a yellow perch or 2 in that permanently? I have seen online that it is too small and will stunt their growth. What’s the harm in stunted growth? If it gets to let’s say 8 or 9 inches, I’m fine with that. I really like the yellow perch idea because they are native to my area and I find it cool.

TIA

Permanently, probably not. Improper care (i.e. poor water management, improper diet, etc. ) will stunt the fish's growth more than tank size will. Depending on where the fish is coming from, the Yellow Perch can get to almost 20" long so a 12" wide tank would not be large enough for a fish that big to live in. Check your state's record size for the fish and if it is more than 6"-8", a 55 is too small for them permanently if you catch them locally. (y)
