I have a pretty big zoo rock with about 6 different kinds on it. I was looking at them tonight and on the back side of the rock there are zoo's and what i think is a sponge growing around the stock of about 6 polyps. It is also growing on the rock. Anyone ever had this happend to them?? Do i remove it or leave it or what. Holy Crap its weird

LOL, yeah it's pretty common I think, I've got sponge on the zoo rocks I got from logicalreef.com today, I personally would leave it be, doesn't seem to matter to them ;)

Not that I'm aware of, sponges are one of the biggest contributors to rock fouling in the curing process but that is simply cause they spend so much time out of the water, which is deadly to a spong. Air get's traped in it's pores and it dies. It will produce ammonia and nitrite when it dies, just like anything else.

I know that the sponge is fine on the rock, but one polyp hase about 1/4 inch think of sponge all the way areound the stalk of the polyp. It looks like it is inflamed. Yes i said inflamed.

Um i will leave it. The master has spoken. Sorry i am in rare form tonight. There is a few things that go tme going. One my freaking Rose BTA and two the fact that you try and try to help some people and they don't LISTEN.
