37 Gallon South American

Just bought my best friend a 37 gallon aquarium for his birthday. He loves the idea of BIG fish. I know I can't get him any monsters, but what cichlids should I get him that get decently sized?

If he's up for the strict maintenance, a pair of Discus would be fine IMO

I and others could name hundreds of cichlids that would work, why not let us know what your able to get and we can go from there?

IMO you would need a bigger tank for a group of Denison's barbs. Personally I'd go with Rummynose or Lemon Tetra.

Considering the Heros efasciatus rotkeil will reach up to 10" you don't even have room to keep one let alone tankmates. You could get away pair of Pterophyllum altum without tankmates though.

Angelfish? Depends on demensions of the tank though...and youd probably only fit two. Remember small fish grow big....dont overstock.
