Here's the site where the body was found towards the right in that little hiding spot. No battle scars that I can see. I have pics of the body of need be.

My first thought is you have a male setting up and defending his territory. The only thing that puzzles me is I would expect to see some battle wounds but I guess stress from being chased away could do it.

Just looked at the picture again. I can't see any signs of fighting.

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe the digger dug into a spot that had some trapped gas, but then I'd expect the digger to be the dead one, not someone else that came ito the area... Stress from being chased away is the only other option I think if there's no battle marks.
