Firemouth hiding?

I recently bought a 1.5-2" firemouth cichlid. He will just go in the cave areas in my tank and hide as deep as he can, he barely eats. What should I do?

I also have a fire mouth that likes to hide rarely comes out I've had him over a year. I even had him alone and he'd hide. What are you feeding him my guy is very picky

Omega one cichlid flakes, he will eat if flakes go by his cave otherwise he won't come out to eat.

I have a full grown firemouth and he hides most of the time. Firemouths don't need to eat as much as other cichlids and are not scavengers like other cichlids. They'll eat when they want. I've seen mine go two days without eating at times

He came out today and ate and roamed around the tank!
