help new to fish

i bought a jeweled cichlid its about 2.5 inchs long it was bright red in the fish store but after the hour drive back to my house he turned a grey color this was a few days ago now and still is that color ... i assumed that he was just stressed from the drive but idk now help please

Yes he is stressed.His colour will come back when he settles in.This could take a week or two but if he's happy in his new home he'll colour up again.

ok thanks i figured that was what it was but wasnt sure if his color had to do with mating or anything like that and wasnt sure how long it took for him to settle... thank you
