Does anyone here have any experience keeping metriaclima mbweca (used to be called cynotilapia green afra)? I have been researching mbuna for a while, but have never kept cichlids before, so I have a hard time telling them apart based on behavior, etc.

They're all juveniles right now. I'll include a couple pics here (i have more), but first wanted to see if anyone knows these very well.

Thanks

Here is mine. He is the boss in my tank. Pretty sure that's a male. Females resemble a OB zebras markings.

Nice looking fish there. That one in the first pic of mine has pretty vivid barring, but it has no yellow in the body. Do you think that's a female? Or a subdominant male maybe?

Mine wasn't that young when I got him. Are you certain it's a metriaclima mbweca juvenile? I'll be interested to see pics as he matures.

I found this pic of a male and female. Now I'm thinking yours are all juvenile females. Keep me posted though.

I bought these guys from Dave's rare cichlids (a website), and I've heard he is pretty reliable, so I'm assuming they are m. Mbweca. I'll keep you posted on their progress.
