Depends what type of cichlids were talking some are to aggressive to keep with others, some are easier to breed when alone etc, depends on the species

Im more interested in difference in behavior in keeping a species only tank. Fry is a bonus and would be fun to breed.

I had demasoni or rustys in mind actually.

Don't get me wrong i love Africans but honestly they are to stupid to behavior differently in a species tank or a combined tank. Besides breeding more and setting up a colony but again depends on the species

Demasoni is a good example of a species people keep alone because how aggressive they can be and they stay small. And there behavior will be the same it will be a Dom male and the sub doms and females. Aggrsion will be lower if its stocked with the right m/f ratio
