My 40 gallon breeder has about 17 juvenile peacocks ( most around 2 inches) and currently has a aqua clear 50 and a sponge filter running. I recently picked up a aqua clear 70 for 5 bucks that I was thinking about adding on as well. I change about 50% of my water a week but wanted to add on the extra filter to help balance the bioload since I am abut over stocked. I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on this amount of filtration and whether it would be helpful or just overkill. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Put it this way. I have a 75 gallon and I'm running a fx5 and a AC 110. :)

No such thing as too much filtration.

It doesn't take place of water changes though...

You will be underfiltered and the tank is a bit too small once the peacocks grow up. IMHO

I agree. That's alot of fish for a 40b. Planning to upgrade?

I plan on selling quite a few of the fish once they get a little bigger. I am frequently selling or trading fish out of the tank and see my self keeping much less as they get bigger.
