Just came home with a 55 gallon and stand scored off CL yesterday.
With young children and various other pets roaming the house (as well as an open tank stand) I want to keep all equipment inside the tank. I'm picking up a Fluval U4 to complement an over the back biowheel filter but am unsure if I can find a protein skimmer big enough to fit inside the tank as well. I know a sump underneath the tank is ideal to house everything but its just not feasible for me at this point. Im eyeing a Hydor Internal Skimmer but it says its only rated for up to 35 gallons.
Is going all internal for a 55 gallon reef capable of maintaining a healthy state for everything? Or will I just be doing more water changes to keep up?
