Ammonia Spike

Can adding plain base rock cause an ammonia spike. I added about 7 pounds of base rock and the next day my ammonia registered on the test. It has been 0 since cycling comleted a month ago.

Not unless it had debris of some sort on it that could rot, rock itself does not have any bioload.
