Brown algae

Brown algae is caused by my tap water. Could i remove or do i need to switch to RO/DI water. I can buy it locally for a dollar a gallon or should i just buy a system. I have a 16 gallon tank :? .

You can buy distilled water from the grocery store for your topoffs and water changes. For a 16 gallon I don't know if it is worth a R/O DI unit.

i bought ro water from the grocery store for a few monthes and it got rid of the brown algae but im using tap water and a silicate sponge and its been working for me

I would sugest a system saves you money in the long run
