Aquarium Advice FINatic
Just installed a Delta Star 2 inline chiller. Also have a Mag 7 pump for water flow. The problem we're having is that when the pump is turned on, we're getting bubbles going back into the tank. See the diagram below for how it's piped. The height the pump is pumping up is 4ft.
Is the Mag 7 trying to pump too much water thru the chiller & getting some air instead? Should we get a smaller pump (Mag 5 perhaps)?
Also with the way it is set up it is creating more flow into the tank than we had before and making too much of a current against the front of the tank and pushing back towards the corals mainly our large bubble, we want the flow to be the way it was before (not as strong) all the corals were doing wonderfully before changing this and we don't want to ruin that. The way it was set up before was exactly the same except the chiller was a Titan 250 (long story on that one). Why would it make a difference just changing the chiller? Perhaps we need some sort of flow regulator (if something liek this exists)?
Lastly, should the pump be pumping thru the chiller (from tank to pump to chiller to tank) or pumping after the chiller (from tank to chiller to pump to tank)?
Any suggestions & comments are welcome
