technically, yes. You won't find as many cool things though...

I once found a 10" leporinus in a tank I bought. He was hiding in some driftwood.

Wow how long was the wood out of the water I put my fish into a separate tank when I was changing the sand and I pulled my driftwood out and looked over it because I have kuhli loaches and I put it in the other tank and the next minute I had a BNP swimming around in there :/

Yeah the only freshwater hitchhikers I've ever gotten are pond snails and algae... Nothing too special.
