Disaster averted!

I just got my new compact flourescent lighting in, (Thanks Captive Reef!) and when I took the old NO fixture off, I noticed black scorch marks all along one half of the fixture... I had thought I smelled burning wire the night before but I have a cold and hadn't really investigated when it faded (timer turned the lights off) All I can say is whoa, that was close!!! The hazards of buying used equipment! Tank sure is happier with cf lighting!!!

I am a career paramedic and have been to many house fires caused by aquarium lighting. Sounds like you got to it just in time. Enjoy the new lights.
